The Spirit of God was hovering over the waters
Stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, their canals, and their ponds, and all their pools of water, so that they may become blood
For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement
To purify them, do this: Sprinkle the water of cleansing on them
Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants
The water flowing down from above will gather together in one place
To gush out of a hollow in the ground
Whenever you are thirsty, go and get a drink from the water
They drew water and poured it out before the Lord
He reached down from Heaven and rescued me; He drew me out of deep waters
And I gave them bread and water
Set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink and go to their master
This water is as precious as the blood
Blood on the altar for a sin offering to atone for all
He ate no bread and drank no water, for he mourned because of the guilt
They sank like stones beneath the mighty waters
Falling at his feet and weeping
O earth, do not cover my blood
For precious is their blood in his sight
Who has wrapped up the waters in a cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is the name of his son? Surely you know!
I made reservoirs to water groves of flourishing trees
A garden fountain, a well of living water, and flowing streams
With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation
Like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream
Pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord
The sound of his coming was like the roar of rushing waters, and the whole landscape shone with his glory
The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand and his left hand toward Heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives forever
He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rain watering the earth
The streambeds of Judah shall flow with water; and a fountain shall come forth from the house of the Lord and water the Valley
Let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream
Just as you drank on my holy hill, so all the nations will drink continually; they will drink to the last drop
The Lord, the God of Heaven, who made the sea and the dry land
You built Zion with blood
The sea kept her safe, for the water was her wall
You stepped on the sea with your horses, on the waves of many waters
To you who live by the sea
This is what the Lord Almighty says: “In a little while I will once more shake the Heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land”
On that day, living waters shall flow out from Jerusalem
“Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of Heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it”
He went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him
He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!
Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him
If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water
And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name
Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through Him!
Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ?
All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ
Here is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism
But I will rejoice even if I lose my life, pouring it out like a liquid offering to God
And overflowing with thankfulness
May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else
Because your faith is growing more and more
The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus
Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work
He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior
Refresh my heart in Christ
Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant,
And to the sprinkled blood, which says better things
He chose to give us birth through the word of truth
This water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God
By the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water
This is he who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth
Acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh
The truth itself speaks for Him
To those who have been called, who are loved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ:
The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price
Biblical Context
Haima Kai Hydõr is the Greek translation of "blood and water" seen in John 19:34.
"Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and
water."
This project was designed to show God's Word as one cohesive story pointing directly to Jesus, the Messiah, whose blood & water was poured out in sacrifice for all the sins of humanity. Each line of the poem represents a single verse taken from the sixty six successive books of the Bible (listed in order below). Verses were chosen based on their mention of two themes featured prominently in reference to Jesus: blood and water. He is the Living Water, the unending source and sustainer of all life. He is the Blood that atones for all sin on the Lord's altar of sacrifice, poured out freely and willingly for all who choose to follow Him. We as the Body of Christ have an inheritance of cleansing through this beautiful flow of blood and water.
